They say that necessity is the mother of innovation. We couldn’t agree more.
Whether it’s continuing to evolve our existing products, or bringing new ideas to life to improve our cycling experience, good design is born of necessary innovation.
The Innovation Lab is a place for pushing the boundaries of design, construction, and ideas. It’s a culmination of all the technical and experiential knowledge that we’re able to call upon when designing Packs, and a vehicle to put this knowledge into practice.

After all, we are cyclists, makers, and problem solvers, brought together by a shared mission to find better ways to explore the world by bike. The Innovation Lab provides us with a platform to explore this mission, and push the boundaries of what is possible – in technology and design, and in riding a bike.
Whether releasing limited edition products, exploring the use of new materials and techniques, or providing a forum of discussion, the Innovation Lab is leading the Apidura design process.

A World of Knowledge
First-hand research and our experience as cyclists are a huge part of what enables us to make the most innovative bike packs available. While our team is based in London, we support riders and races around the world, including a select group of Ambassadors dedicated to pushing the limits of bikepacking and helping others discover its potential.
Combining their expertise with that of our own, we’re able to identify problems in existing packing systems, and look for new and innovative ways to solve them. This could mean making simple modifications to existing Packs, or creating brand new prototypes for us and our Ambassadors to test – on simple overnighters, long-haul expeditions, and in the world’s toughest ultra-races.

With our extensive design and development experience, we’re able to integrate new developments in fabric and materials into our products. Working with our factories gives us further expertise in the manufacturing process, with skilled specialists carrying out cutting, sewing and welding across our production lines. Rigorous testing, carried out by our team in the UK and Ambassadors around the world, allows us to evaluate progress constantly.

Application of Ideas
In the Innovation Lab we’re able to brainstorm and prototype new ideas, implement design improvements, and modify factory samples. Constant dialogue between us, our Ambassadors, and our factories, ensures that we’re able to utilise the knowledge of the wider Apidura team at all stages of the design process, and use the Innovation Lab to put it into practice.
Born on the roads and trails of the world, bred across the minds of the Apidura design family, and incarnated in our office in London, The Innovation Lab is an integral part of what we do at Apidura, and we’re very proud to have it.
