Badlands 2023: The Film

Describing itself as “the wildest gravel challenge in Europe”, this year’s Badlands certainly lived up those expectations –  with heavy storms creating challenging conditions for the first day of racing. Watch the official film to see how it all unfolded.

Reading time: Less than a minute

While previous editions of Badlands have seen temperatures hit 40°C and above, this year’s race presented a somewhat unexpected challenge for an event that features Europe’s only desert – heavy rain, high winds and cooler temperatures. Cue last minute kit changes, frantic checking of weather apps and a sense of trepidation for what was ahead.

As always though, the Badlands community rallied and riders had the adventure of a lifetime. At the pointy end of the race, Rob Britton arrived first to the finish in a time of 1 day, 14 hours and 20 minutes, with Cynthia Carson hot on his wheels as the first woman to finish in a time of 1 day, 21 hours and 34 minutes.
